I%26#039;m writing a paper on very hidden causes and effects.

This includes things that are very unique: Not just drop a bouncy ball and it will bounce. Or, smoking causes cancer.

It%26#039;s more like: if unemployment rates rise, the rates of homicide, suicide, imprisonment, mental hospitalization and even deaths from natural causes all rise as well.

Also, as the heat rises, there is more swimming pool drownings. (Because more people swim when it%26#039;s hot!)

Can anyone help me think of some causes that have underlying effects that are somewhat invisible to the naked eye? Thanks!

Effects:

- Unemployment in tobacco industry - both agricultural, the farmers, and commercial, the distributors and retailers

- Increased life expectancy

- Decrease in commerce/trade/export

- Increased police arrests - cigarettes becomes an underground industry due to the ban

- Less pollution in the atmosphere

- Less trash and waste

- Less form of relaxation - people will try to find alternatives to smoke

- Increased research and development in finding alternative legal means

- More discontented people (i.e., the smokers)

- Less manufacture of ashtrays

- Decrease in sales of lighters

- Decrease in the probability of cigarette burns in clothing and body

- Tobacco companies would be outraged

- Decrease in tax collection by government

- Less advertisements in magazines, billboards, tv commercial
